Invest in Holland
As the lead web developer, I was excited to take on the challenge of building a custom Wordpress theme for the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency. This project was not only complex, but also highly rewarding, especially since the resulting site won multiple awards, including a Silver Award from the International Economic Development Council and a Best of Category award from the Horizon Interactive Awards.
One of the major highlights of this project was implementing geotargeting to provide custom content for different regions, which helped to make the site more engaging and informative. Additionally, I created custom infographics that were not only visually stunning, but also highly functional and interactive, using the Highcharts library to provide beautiful, complex data visualizations that could be easily updated by the NFIA team.
To further enhance the site's functionality, I also implemented multiple custom post types and features, including custom maps and interactive elements. And to make sure that the site was easy to manage and maintain, I ensured that it was completely editable by the client in the Wordpress CMS.
Overall, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency project was an exciting and challenging opportunity for me to showcase my web development skills and expertise. And with the resulting site winning multiple awards, I'm proud to have been a part of a project that achieved both visual excellence and functional efficacy.
Choose Colorado
As a web developer with extensive experience in Wordpress, I was thrilled to take on the challenge of building a custom theme for the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. The site's design and functionality needed to effectively communicate the state's unique economic opportunities and resources to businesses and investors, while also being easy to use and maintain for the client.
To achieve this, I leveraged my skills in front-end development to create full-page video backgrounds with interactive animations that immediately engage visitors and draw attention to the state's many advantages. Custom maps using GIS and SVG overlays were integrated into the site, providing users with a visually stunning and informative way to explore the state's diverse regions and industries.
To ensure the client could easily manage and update the site, I created multiple custom post types and taxonomies that streamlined content creation and organization. This allowed the client to take full control of the site's content and structure without requiring ongoing developer support or maintenance.
I am honored to have delivered a Gold Award-winning website that not only showcases the unique economic opportunities and resources available in Colorado but also stands out for its highly functional and visually stunning design. This project was a true testament to my expertise in Wordpress development and my ability to create custom solutions that meet the unique needs of my clients. I am proud to have received recognition for my work from the prestigious MarCom Awards, which only motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries of web development and delivering top-notch results for my clients.
DCI
For this project, I was tasked with building another custom Wordpress theme, and one of the standout features was the Meet Your Team page. With over 80 employees at DCI, the challenge was to create an interactive directory that provided users with quick and easy access to information about each team member, without sacrificing page load speed.
To achieve this, I employed a range of advanced techniques on both the front end and backend of the site. In the backend, I set up custom fields within a custom post type, enabling DCI to manage the content entry and visibility for each employee. On the front end, I combined a typical Wordpress loop with some asynchronous loading of individual posts, resulting in a seamless user experience that met the client's vision.
Overall, this project was a testament to my ability to build highly functional and user-friendly websites, even in the face of complex challenges. By leveraging my expertise in Wordpress development, I was able to deliver a custom theme that not only met DCI's needs, but exceeded their expectations.
Charlotte's Backyard
As the lead web developer for the Charlotte's Backyard economic development site, I was proud to partner with Cleveland County Economic Development Partnership (CCEDP) and Development Counsellors International (DCI) to create a brand and website that focuses on tying Cleveland County to nearby Charlotte to attract talent to work in the region's manufacturing industry. Using Wordpress, I developed a custom theme with clean, semantic front-end coding, responsive design, and a user-friendly CMS for easy updates.
The site was a success, earning the 2018 dotCOMM Platinum award for its innovative design and functionality. With hundreds of open manufacturing jobs in the area, the urgent need to attract talent to live and work in Cleveland County was a challenge that we met head-on. By creating an engaging, informative website that highlights the region's unique selling points and ties to Charlotte, we were able to help CCEDP achieve their goals and support the local economy.
Big Fat Positive
Big Fat Positive Podcast is a popular parenting podcast featuring real talk, humor, and practical advice for moms and moms-to-be. For this project, I used my expertise in Wordpress theme development to create a custom theme that automatically imports the latest episodes from the podcast's RSS feed on a regular cron job. The theme's design was specifically tailored to showcase the podcast's unique branding and playful personality, while also providing easy navigation and a seamless user experience for listeners.
In addition to the automatic feed integration, I also implemented various custom features to enhance the site's functionality and user engagement. This included a custom search functionality for episodes, the ability to easily share episodes on social media, and integration with popular podcast players like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Overall, the Big Fat Positive Podcast project was a great opportunity to flex my Wordpress development skills and create a site that truly embodied the spirit of the podcast. The automatic feed import feature made it easy for the site to stay up-to-date with the latest episodes, while the custom design and features helped to create an engaging and user-friendly experience for listeners.
